Should I buy the Pixel or Pixel XL?

I'm about to get a new phone, and I have to choose between the Pixel or Pixel XL. I'm not used to big phones, my current phone is an HTC One M8 with a fairly thick case on top. I'm afraid that the Pixel XL won't fit in my pockets (I normally wear either jeans or khakis.) The Pixel XL's longer battery life is very appealing, however. Keeping in mind that I will definitely put a thicker case on the phone, and that my usage is moderate to heavy, what phone should I get?
