It's one or the other, or password. Not sure why the kids have access to your phone, but you might hide it better. Also, you might go into your lockscreen settings and disable "Auto factory reset" (this is what Samsung calls it, not sure what device you have), or you might wake up one day to find your phone has been factory reset because your kids made too many attempts to unlock the phone while you were sleeping.
There may also be an app in Playstore that allows what you're asking, but I'm not personally aware of one.
