Can I stop incoming calls taking over the Google Navigation screen ?

I use Google Maps on my phone as a SatNav and whenever someone calls me, the incoming call screen takes over from Google Maps, meaning I can't see the directions anymore ! I can get the map back by touching the screen, but I don't want to do that as it is an extra distraction.

Can I make Google Maps stay on top ?
