Accidentally mute phone calls with face

i have a one plus 3, android 7.0, and am constantly muting phone calls with my cheek. is there a way to remove the mute button or move it? didnt have this problem on my last phone. i try to keep my face away from the screen but sometimes forget

I wonder if the proximity sensor is faulty. Dial *#0*# and you should get the service screen. You can check the sensor there...

Welcome to Android Central! I agree with Tim1954. The phone's screen should turn off automatically on a call when you hold it up against your ear, in order to prevent this exact problem.

I tried to dial *#0*# and all I get is an error recorded message from Verizon. Is there any other way to check this? This is extremely!!!!!!annoying. It happens to me all the time. Thanks debi

Hmmm.. You don't press the green phone icon after putting in *# 0*# I assume.... Some service providers do block this function I believe..
It should come up with this screen, or very similar..

That normally doesn't work with Verizon.
