Why can't I download to my sd card directly?

I have a large selection card but very little internal storage but I have to download apps into internal and then move it. Anyone know if and how I can tell my phone to download straight to the sd card?

SD cards are best used for your media files: pictures, music, videos, documents.

Apps are best left on the internal storage.

Android is not going to install apps to the SD card unless you reformat the SD card as "adoptable storage", which has its pros and cons.
Not all phones allow that option. Not all versions of android allow that option.

Check your apps that are using lots of data space. Sometimes they will let you move their data to the SD card.
