Ever since the big update I did last month, my s7 randomly closes open apps. I'll have 5 or 6 open apps when I go to bed and in the morning only 1 will still be open. I thought this was just an issue when the phone sifts for a very prolonged period of time, but it just happened to me now after the phone sat for only 15 min. Is there a way to stop the phone from closing my open apps on its own?

Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean by the apps closing? Are you saying that in the morning when you select one of those apps, it doesn't immediately go to where you left off, but instead starts up from scratch? Any power-saving modes turned on, or 3rd party battery-saver or "RAM cleaner" apps installed?

Maybe it has something to do with the background processes setting?

So when I let my phone sit unused for a while and I go back to it and hit the bottom left button that will show you all your open apps, apps that I know were open when I set the phone down are no longer open. An example... Say I am playing Candy Crush, have my email app open, messages app open and browser open with several tabs open of articles I want to read another time. I go to bed and in the morning I hit that bottom left button to show my open apps. When I do that, only one of those things that were open when I went to bed, will be showing, say my email app. If I want to play Candy Crush or send a text, or read those articles in my browser I now have to exit and go to the icon for each of those apps and load them up anew. I never had to do that prior to the last big update. Stuff that was open when I went to bed was still there in the morning. But now it's not limited to long stretches of time like overnight. Now 15 min can go by and when I hit the lower left button, apps that were open 15 min ago are no longer open. *I* never changed any settings. Not sure if something on that update changed my settings but I have no idea what settings I would go to change it back if something did get changed in the last update.

I was the original poster, btw, I just hadn't logged in when I asked the question initially.

You mentioned that no power-saving modes were turned on, but did you also check the Battery Optimization settings for apps? The location of this option can be different for different phones, but if Samsung didn't change things around too much with recent updates, follow the steps here: How to fix Galaxy S7 battery life problems | Android Central
