I have not opened my phone for a year and has a pin code set as security. Guess what, i forgot the pin code.

I accessed my phone through android device manager and set up a new lock code.

My mobile model is htc one m7. Now on the screen it has a locl symbol and says locked by android device manager. But there are no options to input the password made from my android device manager.

Please help!

Welcome to Android Central! As far as I know, ADM doesn't allow you to change the password on a phone that already has a password lock set -- it will only work if the phone didn't have a screen lock in the first place. What status does ADM on your computer show for the phone right now?

I thought ADM would allow a device to have a password reset. Hang on; I can test on my Nexus 5X.

I was incorrect. I can lock and erase the device, but not change the password.

Right -- if the phone already has a screen lock set, ADM will let the user know that a new password isn't necessary, since the phone is already locked.
