Why my data got lost when i connected my phone to pc

[AC Question]

I connected my phone to PC and was transfering data to PC, and suddenly after few files where transfered the data on mobile was deleted (ERASED)...
why did this happened ? please if someone can explain

Welcome to Android Central! What data on the phone was lost? Was it just files that you were trying to move, or did you also lose other files?

i just all the data except the application that were installed in phone

data such as photos videos n music etc. but the apps are working fine

@sfoLAX is trying to determine if the phone performed a factory reset on its own, so can you tell us if you had to log back into the phone with your Google account and set it up again just as if it were brand new out of the box?

No there was no factory reset the phone was normal. I just lost all my photos n videos the other settings were as it is..

Which phone do you have? Were the photos and videos saved to Internal Storage or an SD card? Have you used a file manager app to look directly in the folders where those files were saved?
