Welcome to the forums. If your contacts are backed up on Google servers, those will resync when you get the new phone and sign in. If you have Google photos, and set to an auto backup, those should be fine too.

What else did you need backed up?

You're options vary depending on your carrier and if you're getting it from a store. Verizon has a cloud service that backs up contacts, call logs, documents, messages, photos, videos.

Any android phone can use Google drive to back up photos, video, documents and other files. Google will back up your contacts as well if you saved them to Google instead of your phones internal memory.

Google account syncs your apps, some apps will transfer data, others won't.

Some stores also handle moving data for you with machines they have.

If the new phone is a Samsung you can use samsung smart switch.
