Question Have a read-only Media Player information on the Lock Screen?

Just changed my car and the new(ish) one has a built in ICE screen but unfortunately when playing podcasts and music over Bluetooth from my phone it does not show the playbar elapsed/remaining time of the current episode / track (something I do see on the system on my work van). It does support Android Auto and I can then see this information but it is wired only so a faff to keep plugging/unplugging the USB cable for all the relatively short journeys I mostly do. I see you can add a dongle to make AA work wirelessly but for me the cost is not worth it for just this relatively minor functional addition as well as it taking longer for AA to connect than it does BT.

So my thought was to have the music info display on the phone's lock screen which would show me this information. Unfortunately, this opens the possibility of accidentally activating the playbar controls while the phone is in my pocket so I could not turn it on and leave it on (as I have posted previously my glistening, rippling thigh muscles are adept at activating the touch screen through the thin liner material of my pocket).

Now I am wondering if there is such a thing as a lock screen widget that displays the media player info but in read-only mode *without* any control buttons. Any suggestions?

It sounds counter intuitive maybe but because of the exact reason you sighted, my thighs being too smart for their own good, changing settings opening apps and calling people they have no reason to call, I began saving the screen out. It was screen out headphone jack down but then became charging port down. Trying to keep stuff out of it. Anyway I don't know about your but I don't go pressing up against things when my phone is in my pocket regardless of the direction it's facing. By facing it forward there's two layers of material covering the face and no accidental touches.

Ok. Turned on the built in lock screen music widget and hope that my other solution to the unwanted activation problem works sufficiently well which is to use an old mouse mat cut to shape to use as a pocket liner and acts like the cover of a flip case.

I don't see any mention of the device you're using? Not sure why no one has said to turn on accidental touches in the settings. Some devices also have a pocket mode or pocket setting that reduces the touch sensitivity or blocks touches when the light sensor is blocked.

You might be able to find these settings by using the search feature in your settings menu. Type, touch or pocket and see what turns up.

I love the innovation of trimming down an old mouse pad as a pocket liner.
👍 🙂

I often 'craft' things to problem solve.

Thanks for that reminder. And yeah, when I type 'touch', in my S23+, it brings up 'Display' settings, where there's the 'Accidental touch protection' & 'Touch sensitivity' switches.

Please excuse a brief btw, where is the setting that enables the phones' Home screen to turn on, simply by picking-up the phone? I turned that on 6or7 months ago, and it's always worked great, but since updated to UI 6.0, it's been erratic and less sensitive, sometimes staying dark while not bringing the Home screen up at all.

Or maybe get a belt holster for your phone?

I'm not sure if it's in the same place, but on my s24U (6.1), the 'Lift To Wake' feature is under Motions & Gestures. I went into settings and searched for 'wake' as I didn't remember the exact name.

Oh yeah! Thank you! ;) I almost typed swyped 'wake', but instead I typed swyped 'touch'... which brought up the Display settings.

Sorry it's an S20FE and I should have said I have all those things already turned on but don't find them totally reliable.

I use a belt holster for work but even then I sometimes get a false screen activation but that may be due to an accidental touch of a steering wheel button on the work van. I use a holster there because my job involves carrying heavy trays which bang against my thighs so want to keep the phone out of the firing line. Don't think a holster is hip (sic) for day to day casual wear.

Got Touch sensitivity turned off as to turn it on would have the opposite effect to what I would need.

After a couple of days I am getting to like the advantages of using the built in lock screen widget such as being able to switch between media players with a tap, a swipe and a tap - I usually have two on the go, Pocket Casts for playing podcasts and Smart Audiobook Player for playing music and classic comedies and like to swap between them when in the van at work . And all that so far without any unwanted thigh-action when not working. So looks like I am sorted. :)
