Why is Messenger refusing to reinstall?

I own an Android model 710c, hardware version 002, and have had the following issue:

I uninstalled Messenger to free up room for a mobile game, having planned to buy a memory SD afterwards as a failsafe and ran into the following error code "504."

Now, I have done every step asked of me, those steps being:

Freeing up the necessary units of memory for the app

Go to settings >> Application Manager or Apps>> Open “All” apps. From the list of apps find Google Play store >>Clear Data and Clear Cache.

I have even done the same with Download Manager and even Facebook.

Restarting the phone and reattempting.

Nothing has changed. I would like to know if there are other, less obvious methods of fixing this.

Welcome to Android Central! Who's the manufacturer of the phone? "Android model 710c" is too vague.

You're talking about Facebook Messenger, not the stock Messaging app, right?

Yes, it is Facebook Messenger, that and just about anything in the Play Store will not install, regardless of memory.
As for the manufacturer, I can only guess Verizon, considering it's the company name that appears when the phone is turned on.
Also, in case it is needed, the Android version itself is version 5.0.2.
