Cannot add contacts/all contacts gone

[Android Central Question]

I have a samsung s7....suddenly all my contacts are gone. I try syncing them in and get a message that sync is having a problem. If I try saving my contacts it tells me the app is not available. When I go to the contact app, it is there and active. Help
