My phone is stuck on edge 2g and when i type in *#*#4636#*#* to go in to change gsm to wcdma it is still going back to gsm only please help

Welcome to AndroidCentral Thanks for the question. There might be nothing wrong with your device. The speed and generation of connection you have depends on the coverage of your network provider.

For example, AT&T or T-Mobile might only have 2G (EDGE) reception in certain areas. So even if your phone supports 4G LTE it will never show it.

If you open Settings -> Cellular Network -> Preferred Network Type. Just ensure all possible options are enabled.
