Why does file manager have empty folders

My file manager on my phone opens files for things and they are empty with no data. Hiddenmenu privacylock .nomedia and if it does have a file it says cannot open..how do I stop this and why is it doing this?

You have hidden files and it's best not to fiddle there. Mostly these are files you don't need to see, they are usually housekeeping things that run your device. You delete such files and you can render the device useless.
Rule of thumb : if you don't know what it is, leave it well alone.
The ". nomedia" bit just tells the system not to open that particular file.
If your phone is working, they are doing the job well, let them work.
