Background play for apps?

[Android Central Question]

I'm an iPhone user who just upgraded to the 9+ and the iPhone had a functionality where you could have netflix or YouTube playing while in other apps or while locked. I noticed that Netflix on the S9+ just stops playing when I go anywhere outside the app. Am I missing something? Is there a way to fix this?
