Whatsapp delete for everyone

Hi!
If you send someone a photo and they probably have media autodownload and they receive the photo but don't open it, is the image downloaded on their phone? And if I delete the image before opening it with the optipn delete for eveyone, does the image disappear forever from their phone (from the memory, not whatsapp)?

Even if you delete it the pic is still on their phone unless it wasn't received by them yet... but normally its delivered immediately. Even if they don't open it but it was delivered(seen by the double check mark) it's on their phone and you only delete it from your phone.(Same goes with messages). I haven't seen the delete for everyone option for awhile now either. If it's back its possible that it will be deleted from both phones but I've had it remain on the recipient's phone even when deleting for everyone before.
