Android Central Question

I go to the option on my Google app, and it literally turns right back off when I try to turn it on, by itself! It's really annoying.

I have been struggling with this problem for over a month, and just managed to fix it accidentally. I'm not entirely sure the order of events or what's important but this is what happened as best as I can recall it.

I went into the Google home app. HOME, not assistant. I clicked on 'broadcast' and it triggered the retraining dialogue. Like all of you I've seen that many times before, but this time something different happened at the end. I think it prompted me something that sounded similar to 'access with voice match'.

Without leaving the home app, I went to settings -> assistant -> phone and toggled access with voice match, and this time it WORKED! No additional retraining needed, and I was also able to toggle unlock with voice match.

Hope this helps someone!

Glad that it works for so many
WHERE DO I FIND "USE SCREEN CONTEXT" ????
I have Xiaomi mi 8
TIA

I don't see it on the Note 9 that I've started using since my earlier posts on this thread, but if memory serves...
SETTINGS > GOOGLE > SEARCH > VOICE and then scroll to bottom of page.

tried everything else this worked

"I just experienced this problem but fixed it in a way I don't understand. Farther down that same settings page that has the toggle for "Access with Voice Match", I had to toggle on "Use Screen Context." Worked for me after that.
Yep. Took me a month to figure this out, even with your comment... Moderately pissed off.
I had to:
1. Toggle 'Use Screen Context' off (since it was on already)
2. Toggle 'Google Assistant' off
3. Go back to the previous page
4. Re-enter the phone's voice settings
5. Toggle 'Use Screen Context' on again
6. Toggle 'Google Assistant' on again
7. Am now able to turn on 'Access with Voice Match'

Not 100% sure if I did everything in that order, or if they're all vital to making it work, but those are all the things I did to fix it (crucially the going out and back into it thing). Happy Googling, friends." from another thread these 2 cracked it

OK, so from these instructions I can't even do step one:

1. Toggle 'Use Screen Context' off (since it was on already)

"Use Screen Context" is on AND greyed out, I can't toggle it!

Back in voice settings, however, "access with voice match" is greyed out and toggled OFF.

Just reinstalled the entire Google app to no avail. :(

On my S9 I had to go into Settings > Apps > Google > Permissions and disable & re-enable the Microphone access. After that it allowed me to set Access with Voice Match.

Same problem. Go into your voi e settings. At the bottom there will be two options, redo voice or delete voice.
Delete the old one and redo a new recording. Mine worked perfectly after that.

SOLVED!!! - FOR ME ANYWAY using my "Mi 8" ... the solution was to turn OFF the microphone permission for the main GOOGLE app AND LEAVE IT OFF!!! ... Then when I went to do my next voice recognition, it popped something up that asked me to ALLOW access to the Microphone, which I did and it worked :)

For clarity, this worked perfectly for me:

1. Toggle 'Use Screen Context' off (since it was on already)
2. Toggle 'Google Assistant' off
3. Go back to the previous page

* Exit program
* turn phone off
* turn phone back on
* Toggle 'Google Assistant' on
then ...

5. Toggle 'Use Screen Context' on again
6. Am now able to turn on 'Access with Voice Match

I couldn't find half of those settings. Then found out, that some don't exist anymore. Just opened "settings" "Google", "search, assistant and voice", "voice", "voice match" on another device with same account and switched those settings on there. At the same time I restarted my phone and when it was done, went through same settings on it.

I had the same problem, i can't turn on "voice match". Thats what helped me, may be it will help someone:
1) Settings -> system -> language & input -> language.
2) I deleted previous language and added new one, its English (United States), and selected USA region.
3) After few seconds phone applied settings.
4) After that go to Google -> settings -> voice -> Voice match. After that i can enable it.

"Access with voice match" will not stay on.

Tried all of the suggestions and none work on my Galaxy S10. It worked initially when I got the phone, but I think when I used Bixby, it stopped. There does not seem to be a way to disable Bixby. "Access with voice match" will not stay on.

Hey bro, I've solved this by making google my default assistant from default app, by the following :
1- Go to settings
2 - Apps
3 - From the 3 dots choose default apps
4- you'll find something called " Device assistance app "
5 - open it and choose google -even if it was already chosen-
Thank me later ✌😉
