Why doesn't my lg have an option to lock my sim card

Im switching sims and my new phone cant seem to accept my sim. I know it isn't my carrier. I figured it might work if i locked it in my old phone, then unlocked it my new phone. Now finding out I can't lock my sim at all.

What phones and what carrier(s)? If the new phone doesn't support your carrier it won't matter what you do to prepare for the swap, it's not going to work.
