Android Central Question

Previously, I have not had any trouble transferring files via USB between my Galaxy S9 and my Win 10 PC. Recently, it appears that the PC can no longer load the Samsung drivers to permit file transfers to and from the phone. The PC Device Manager displays the Galaxy S9 with a yellow exclamation point and the details about the device read as follows….“This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31). Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API.”

Steps I have taken so far…

I tested all the PC USB ports with other devices…they are all active and working fine and the S9 does charge when connected.

I tested the S9 on an identical Win 10 PC using the same USB cable and the phone was immediately connected, recognized and no problem with file transfer. So problem is not the phone and is likely a Windows 10 issue.

I did a Win 10 system restore point to go back to an earlier date…no luck.

After that, I made sure Windows 10 was fully up to date and uninstalled and reinstalled the Galaxy S9 drivers several times…no luck…same error message about loading drivers and I restarted the PC after every change.

I’ve been searching unsuccessfully for an answer to this problem for a couple of days… I’m out of ideas and would appreciate some help in finding a solution.

Thanks

After reinstalling the drivers for the device, try checking Windows Update for any driver updates or other updates that could resolve the problem.
