Galaxy s7 active - After using voice typing it won't bring back the normal keyboard

Hands down the weirdest problem I've ever had, whenever I use voice typing and I finish talking, the interface wont close when I hit the little x in the corner, nor will any of the other buttons in the voice typing area work. I can close it by hitting the back button on my phone but the normal keyboard doesn't pop back up, and clicking back into whatever text box I was typing in doesn't bring the normal keyboard back up either. I have to exit out of whatever app I was in and go back in to get the keyboard to come back again. Any ideas?
