I am using regular messaging app a blue dot appears on a couple of my contacts what does that mean.

It doesn't show up all the time just intermittently but every day.

Might mean either new message or that they are online if they're all using Samsung phones or a phone that supports Enhanced Messaging (RCS)

I just figured it out. The blue dot only shows up when your using the messaging app. From what I've figured out it means that contact is on both accounts, Google and Samsung.

Welcome to Android Central! Did you already read the above responses? Which phone, and which messaging app?

It means that chat mode is enabled so you can get the sent or read disposition for each msg rather than standard sms
