How do I retrieve my password for private mode, on my Galaxy Tab A

I never set a password for private mode. Yet, I am required to use one to get in. But do not know what it is

If you never set a password in the first place, then it's probably prompting you to set it up for the first time. Or, someone set a private mode password on the tablet and didn't bother to tell you, so you'll need to find out who did it and ask them instead.

Regardless, if you reset the password manually, you'll lose whatever content it was protecting. There's no way to recover a lost private-mode password.
