Received my new phone (OnePlus 6) and couldn't figure out a way to transfer my WhatsApp messages on iPhone to OP6. Hope someone could point out a way.

Welcome to AC.

Whatsapp has no supported process for this. There are 3rd-party tools that might do this but I'll leave that up to you.

Open WhatsApp on your source Android/iOS device and go to Settings -> Chats Settings -> Chat History -> Email chat.

Choose the WhatsApp messages which you need to transfer. A pop-up window saying "attaching media will generate a larger email message" will appear. You can click "Without media" or "Attach Media" according to your needs. Please note that transferring WhatsApp chats with media will take longer time.

Type your email address on the sending page and press "Send" button.

Once the messages have been sent, log into your email account on your destination iOS/Android device. Then you can view the transferred WhatsApp chat history.

Note: You can not sync the emailed messages and attachments to the WhatsApp application on your new Android/iOS device, but your messages will be transferred as requested.

Open WhatsApp on your iPhone device and log in your account.

Navigate to "Settings" > "Chats" > "Chat Backup".

Tap the "Back Up Now" button to start backing up current WhatsApp Data.

Install WhatsApp on your Android phone.

Sign in WhatsApp account and you will see the WhatsApp chat.

@bobobo3 unless something has changed, the iOS Whatsapp backup goes to iCloud, which can not be accessed by an Android device. As stated 8 months ago - there is no supported free process for migrating chats from Whatsapp on iOS to Whatsapp on Android, and the paid tools are questionable.

The wording of the FAQ on the Whatsapp site indicates that Google Drive backup is only available on Android devices - considering Google Play Services, which is not available for iOS, is a requirement.
