Android Central Question

I have a Nokia 7plus updated to Oreo 8.1.
My problem is that lately the contacts can only be saved to device and not on gmail. The option to save on Gmail or any other account doesn't show at all.
I tried to sync with Gmail on the Gmail manage settings to sync contacts. But the Contact option doesn't show at all. I tried to restore it by watching a YouTube video showing a simple way by "show system" and to check and uncheck the contact sync, however its still not working.
Can anyone help me to set default contact saving to Gmail?
Thanks in advance.

Have you ckeared the cache partition and rebooted?
Have you downloaded a different dialer app?

I tried to do it on system recovery mode. However, the option of wipe cache partition is not showing at all. Then I checked online and someone has posted a question about this but there's no reply on it.
The only wipe option is wipe data/factory reset.

Thanks.

Don't wipe your phone.
If you hold up volume, home button, and then power at the same time (beginning with the phone off) you should see a menu appear. Use the volume key to click down to 'wipe cache partition'. After, select reboot.

Hi again.
Wipe cache option doesn't show up in the menu. It just doesn't exist. :-(

I was surprised that it doesn't show up, so I googled it up too, the option shows for Nokia 3,5,6 and 8 but not in Nokia 7plus. Its very strange but true that the wipe cache option is just not showing up!

Thanks..

I didn't wipe my phone. I'm relying on help from kind people like you to get it fixed. :-)

Try this, seems to be a one off move by them :
When at 'no command' message press Power and vol up - now you should be in the recovery menu.

Hi,

What I meant was-I get to the recovery menu.. That's not the problem. The problem is that in the menu, the option of "Wipe Cache partition doesn't exist. Only wipe phone/factory reset and other options show up.
When I googled on what specific menu option is for wipe cache, it doesn't show for Nokia 7 models, but shows up for Nokia 3,5,6 and 8.

Thanks for taking time to look into this and suggesting. Appreciated always.

I'm unable to get any additional information about why your phone is missing Android system options. I think that you need to go to the retailer who sold it or call 611. Good luck.

Thanks. I was planning to do it over the weekend if the issue wasn't going to resolve.
Thanks again for your time and help. Appreciated.

As far as the contacts, read the Contacts section of Backing up an Android Device. If you export your contacts, then import the same file, you should get a choice of which Google account to import them to (even if there's only 1). You may generate a few duplicates like that. but you can go to Google Contacts, hit More, then Find & merge duplicates...

And all your contacts will be Google contacts.

(Unless Microsoft (which bought Nokia) is playing some kind of game, messing up Nokia phones to increase Microsoft's market share.)
