Will flashing a ROM delete my photos?

Hello,
I want to flash a custom ROM on my S8 to retrieve some media as i accidentally deleted my os. I know you are supposed to wipe data before flashing but if i don't will i still have my media? I don't care about apps only media files. If there is any way please tell me.

All not backed up first would be lost.

Flashing a ROM deletes everything on the phone. As belodion said, if you don't back it up, you lose it. See Backing up an Android Device.
