Android Central Question

I was wondering if its possible to change the android settings for the lockscreen timer.

I would like to have an unlocked timer for a set amount of time so that it does not require me to input my password every time I press the power button. This would just require the password on the first attempt and then it wouldn't need a password for a set amount of time thereafter (say 5-10 minutes). Instead of inputting my password, I can just swipe to open the phone.

This is something that I noticed exists on the iphone for some time. I saw a similar setting on my android for it. However, when the lock timer is activated, my phone doesn't ever open into the lockscreen. Instead, it enters the phone fully unlocked. This brings up some annoying problems such as applications opening in my pocket. Also, the lockscreen is very helpful to glance at notifications without having to bring up the notification center.

Can someone help me find a way so that I can have the lockscreen pop up when I turn on my phone with the unlock timer activated but, does not require a password on every attempt?

Lock screen timer setting: Lock screen and security, secure lock settings, Lock automatically

Welcome to Android Central! There's been a setting for that for as long as I can remember. Look in the Security menu or the Lockscreen menu (in the System Settings). Look for the "Automatically Lock" option (if your system settings menu has a search option, it's easiest to search for 'Automatically Lock"). This is how long it takes after the screen goes off before the phone requires a password again to unlock the screen -- so if you have it set to 10 minutes, then you don't have to enter the password again if you wake the phone within 10 minutes of the screen going to sleep.

In that same menu, there should also be an option to make the Power button automatically lock the screen. Turn that option off.
