[Android Central Question]

I have a fully updated pixel 1 and i can no longer search for text using the messages app. I can click on people or categories and it brings up threads but when i type in a text string in the box and hit search nothing happens. I've tried clearing the cache for this app but nothing happens. Anyone experiencing something similar?

I have also just recently noticed this issue. It started about a week ago (late November). I have a brand new pixel 3 xl. It was working great until then.
It's very annoying and inconvenient.

I've searched for answers, cleared my cache, uninstalled the update, re-installed the update, turned my phone off, etc... Nothing seems to work.

The search function works on google calendar but not the messages app.

Yeah, I just noticed the same. The search feature works for contacts but not for text strings.

No idea, I just noticed that after you posted here. Maybe a bug after the most recent update. I'm asking around and I'll let you know what I find.

Asked around and it seems the search feature is working fine on version 3.7.xxx. which version do you have? Mine is 3.8.042 and it doesn't work.

I don't know, I guess we need to be patient and wait for the next update.

How will they be made aware of this issue? I've sent in feedback but I'm not sure if that's the best way to let them know

Thank you for your assistance with this. I saw another thread you closed today on the same issue. It should be an easy fix as the old version was able to do it

They fixed it! Got the update on the Play Store and search for text strings is working again. Version 3.8.043.

Wow! Super impressed! It's fixed! Apple would have taken months to address this!
