Data recovery after accidently formatting encrypted memory card on mobile?

Hi Android Central,

Note 8 (Android 8.0.0) user here with an encrypted mobile internal memory and SD card.
While trying to format an attached external USB drive I accidentally formatted the SD card instead. Is there any chance of data recovery in this case?

I've already tried some data recovery programs (EaseUS, Stella Data Recovery) with the SD card on a Windows PC but they find nothing.

Does re-encrypting the card and trying data recovery on the mobile itself make any sense?

Welcome to Android Central! I'm afraid that data is probably gone. If it was encrypted and then you formatted the card, even if you were able to recover that data, you'd be lost without the original encryption key
