Google play gift card

[Android Central Question]

I bought a $50 google play gift card tonight and i went to redeem it. It said is no longer any good. How do i get it replaced or my account get funded.

I went back to the store where i bought it at they told me to contact google.

Did they give you an activation receipt? Was it a chain store or a mom & pop store? Did they have to peel back the tear-away strip or scratch off the scratch-off in order to activate it? Scammers have historically had a tendency to grab the numbers off gift cards on retail racks, then periodically check to see if they're active, it's possible this happened to you.
