mobile data has to be manually switched on by selecting APN

[Android Central Question]

Hi all,

I just bought a sim free huawei P20 and does not switch on automatically after being disconnected from WiFi.
In order to access mobile internet I have to manually select the APN related to my network.
If I leave the phone to automatically select the network connection I have no internet but I can make phone calls and send SMS messages.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have you in the first instance spoken to your carrier about it?
