Can we eliminate the pin once it is set?

Android Central Question

I spoke with our IT team. My company DID NOT force the pin on my mobile devices. Google did. I don't want to use a pin as it locks first responders out of my phone and out of my ICE information. This is a change I do not want to make. If I set that pin, can I eliminate it after the fact?

Yes - just go to where you set the lock screen and set it for Swipe or None. (Or put the ICE number on the lock screen - "If found, please call xxx xxx-xxxx" would do it. First responders will try that to see if there's anyone there - and if it's your ICE number, there will be.)

It probably was not Google that forced the PIN, since Google would not care.
Many financial apps will force you to use a security screen (PIN, fingerprint, etc).

I always thought that the ICE info was silly since the responders would not get past the security screen.

In your case, you will probably need to find the app that is requiring the security screen and then decide if the app or ICE info is more important to you.
