Just got my Galaxy S10, but had the same issue with my S7. My car is a 2019 Subaru CrossTrek. The Android Auto App will work on/off in terms of connecting to the car. One day its fine, the next day it doesn't connect to the car controller / dashboard. I got the message: "Attention: The connected device is unable to access data on this device. Reconnect the USB cable and try again".

I've tried 2 different USB cords - no luck. Not sure why it works some day(s) and then won't on others - and today getting that error message above.

    Please help!

Are you using decent quality, undamaged (including no tight bends when you're plugging it in) USB cables that have data wires in them?
