How does my S10 know I just bought a case?

Just bought a Samsung licensed case. No phone numbers given at the store or any interaction with the phone. 10 minutes later (of having said case on phone) I get a message "Congratulations on your new cover. Check out these phone case themes" with link to Galaxy store. I check settings and Phone case themes is now enabled "Get notifications about exclusive themes available for your phone case". What the......???

I don’t use Samsungs, but some sort of connection between case and phone, perhaps.

Where did you buy your case? Service provider, Best buy, etc? Did you use the same card that you used to buy your phone? Did you have to enter an email address at any time? Most likely, I would bet that your name, payment method, or some other bit of information in the transaction is tied to your Samsung account somehow.

The case might have something in it (an RFID, a magnet) that the phone can detect.

At a Samsung store. Different store than where I bought the phone. Paid cash. Kinda freaky. I'm guessing there is some kind of RFID/magnetic strip in the case that is picked up by the phone. Errr...who knows
