Android Central Question

I'm asking about the google+ photo backup that was used before the new google photos came out in 2015.

When photos were backed up, did they automatically appear in the phone's gallery too?

I'm wondering because i remember seeing some kind of auto backup folder in my gallery a while back and I'm wondering if it was always like that with google+?

I know it doesnt do that anymore with the new google photos, but like i said, I'm just wondering about google+.

Gallery uses the Media Scan database to find what to display, the same thing as any decently written photo display app does. If the picture file (or a thumbnail) is on the phone, not in a hidden folder, and not in a folder with a .nomedia file (like all the junk your web browsers download), it shows. Backing up doesn't change anything, as long as they weren't deleted along with any thumbnail of the file that might exist. (Google backup deletes the file on the phone after backup, but leaves the thumbnail so you can see the picture.)
