Android Central Question

Hi All, I have a Galaxy S5 and recently installed a security system with cameras. I can view the cameras fine but when I hit the button to enable push notifications, it turns green for an instant then turns off. I have (unsuccessfully) researched so far that this is not uncommon and I need to get to a "permissions" area in "settings" but haven't found it! Since I bought my phone from AT&T, i stopped in to a store and the guy said he couldn't help me...old phone. (My phone still runs great and this issue appears to be common on later ones as well.) So they are zero help. Any advice on where this setting is buried in my phone and how to get there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tim in Florida

Hi mustang7757, I registered as "lifewithoutparole". The push notifications refer to alerts that are sent to my phone if someone gets within a specified area of my home's doors and windows. Thanks for any help! Tim

Hi, welcome
Ok gotcha now
Have you long press the security camera app and tap info and check see if permission enabled ?

Mustang7757, I am going to try what you suggested today. when the camera tech installed everything and my phone wouldn't let the alert button stay on we loaded the app on his phone and the alerts worked well. his is an S10.......i see that the NVMS app is a 2016 version and my phone is an S5 from early 2014 so is it possible that there is a compatibility issue? He said this issue was not just on Samsung phones so there are others that allow everything but the alerts. I am also going to try the NVMS folks to see if they have a solution. Thanks for your time! Tim

Your welcome, let me know how it works out.

Hi all, this issue started me looking at new phones and another provider, with better monthly costs. I replaced my S5 with an S9 yesterday. Great phone and way faster BTW. This will solve my issue. Thanks to all of you for your help. I have much to learn about my S9 so I am glad I signed up to this forum. Thanks, Tim

Glad to have you part of the community!

So, I learned something that might help others who have my issue with the NVMS7000 app. As my original post stated I thought it was my phone that would not allow me to turn on the alert push notifications.....well, on my new Galaxy S9, I had the same issue till I went into the App. menu and hit the "away from home" button!. Seems the app has to be set on "away from home" in order to turn on the alert push notifications! I discovered this just today. In retrospect, it is possible that my old Galaxy S5 would have been fine all along....however, the issue got me to explore new phones and providers and I came out ahead.....I hope someday this helps someone...this is a great forum, BTW.
