How transfer files between cell phone and Apple mac?

I want to copy files from my note 4 to Apple imac, then from imac to noite8.

I would expect it to go similarly to what happens with Windows:

Attach the phone to the computer using the USB cord.
Unlock the phone at the lock screen.
Make sure the USB connection is set to "MTP" or "all files" or the like.
Use your computer's file browser (Mac Finder) to browse the phone like a hard drive.
Copy the files, not Move them.
