Cannot play downloaded music files

[Android Central Question]

I synced music from my computer to my Pixel 3a. My computer says they are synced, they are in my internal storage on my phone under music files, but they won't open with play music. All I can do is see the title, and when I select a song it just says my phone can't preview it. I'm getting really frustrated here... help?

Welcome to Android Central! What did you use to sync? Windows Media Player? Unfortunately, there aren't really any good true "sync" programs for Android devices. The best approach is to manually copy music files using the Windows File Explorer.

What's the file extension (the part to the right of the dot in the name). The phone may not have an app that can play that particular file type. (Phones don't play files, apps do.)
