Discover Cashback Debit Card will not add to Google Pay (Motorola Z3 Play)

[Android Central Question]

Last year, I added the debit card numbers to the app and it did recognize that it was Discover, but it was unusable. Fastfoward to March 2020, this time it won't add at all after I removed it and manually entered the card numbers.

My Bank of America and BB&T (VISA) cards work fine, other than that...

Does anyone else have this issue?

according to discover the following are the only cards that work with google pay. if your debit card is not one of those, then forget it.
