How do I stop the voice recorder from randomly recording on phone?

I have a 2017 Huawei Y5
Model # MYA-L23
Android Version 6.0

I used the voice recorder once to record something on the radio and ever since that the phone keeps randomly recording on it's own.

For example, every time I notice the phone recording, I'll delete the recording. This morning I woke up to see over 10 recordings on the phone. Conversations I had with my wife, a phone call and even recordings of me snoring last night.

How do I get this thing to stop?!?!

Yes its the voice recorder app that was pre-installed on the phone.

Ok try force stopping it see if it's ok after.

Welcome to Android Central! Also see if you can Disable it in the Settings>Apps​ menu.

I tried the force stop but that did not work. Eventually I went into Settings>Apps>Recorder>Permissions and turned off the microphone permission and this worked.
