Has anyone else tried another charger besides the one from the manufacturer? I want to buy this one

Yes. I have It and it does fast charge flawlessly with the zf2.

This thread put me on to this charger which just arrived today from Amazon.

One query:
The phone is supposed to detect fast charge automatically if I understand correctly.
Is this right?

I've never had a device that had fast charging enabled.

Yes it takes a few seconds but then you'll a plus sign looking lightning bolt next to your battery charging icon. It does the most if it's work from 0 to 70 percent in about a half hour. Then it slows down and its pretty much like a regular charger until full.
