Open Enrollment for Verizon Device Protection plan. Is this legit?

I chatted with a Verizon service agent online who told me that during open enrollment one can bring a newly purchased device direct from Motorola and be eligible to enroll in Verizon's device protection. It seems dubious to me but I saved the chat. Any Verizon insiders able to confirm or deny? Thanks!

I've had similar offers from other carriers. If you desire a protection plan through Verizon, this is your opportunity. But, you might also consider something like SquareTrade's plan, for comparison.

So through the my Verizon app only the really expensive options were listed. But a quick chat online and I was able to add the plan I wanted.
