Motorola Droid MAXX - App Disabling For Maximum Speed & Battery Life

Thank you for your support with droid maxx preinstalled apps. I also have a moto x and I am trying to turn off the hand gesture feature for the ir sensors. Can you help. Thank you

Thank you walt. I am not entirely familiar with the pre-installed apps for the Moto X. I know that most of the pre-installed apps are the same as the Maxx, but there are differences. I would say look for an app called "Moto Actions" if there is an app by that name, see if you're able to disable it as it most likely controls the gestures associated with the IR gestures.

Chrome is a huge violator. My Moto X 2013 got crappy battery life. I disabled Chrome and downloaded Firefox browser so I could continue to use Google search. Battery life improved significantly and I mean a lot. Before, when I took my phone off the charger at 100%, it would drop to 98% within 5 min. Now it stays at 100% for a good 30 mins after browsing FB and twitter for a few minutes. All Chrome does is mine your data. Without it you can't use Google search unless you have another browser installed. Just sayin'...

Hey, thanks a lot for this thread, I just got Droid MAXX and disabled most of the apps mentioned in here.
The reason I did not disable all of the apps you mentioned is because I wanted to keep Active Display and OEM Battery saver ON.

If someone else wants to keep either of these functions, here is a tip:
OEM Battery Saver stopped working for me when I disabled Assist app. They are linked in some way and Battery Saver won't work if Assist is disabled.

Active Display function needs more than just Active Display and Active Display System Process apps to work.
It also needs one of these, but I didn't bother to find out which one exactly, so I left them all ON:
- Motorola Contextual Services
- Motorola Drive Activator
- Motorola ID
- Motorola Modality Services
- Motorola Sensor Services

If I had to guess, I'd say it's Motorola Modality Services.

I'm pretty sure that it needs contextual services and probably sensor services (because active display is silenced when you turn the phone display down, so it has to monitor positioning sensors and the proximity sensor and probably the ambient light sensor.)

You are probably right. I shouldn't have said "one of these" since it's probably few of them.

I would also like to add that I left Audio Effects app enabled because I like the sound that comes out of my phone with Bass Punch option enabled.
You can open Google Play Music, play some music and then play with equalizer to see if you really want to disable Audio Effects app.
