T-Mobile $300 trade in for One+6T

So on Nov 1st you can trade in a # of old phones for $300 on a new One+ 6T...So ideally I would just pay the difference, but my understanding is one cannot do that. What is the least amount you can carry on a monthly bill? Is it $100? Or do they make you carry the whole $300?

I have a One+ 1, Nexus 6, and iphone 6S that are all eligible.
