Mic sensitivity reduction android (how?)

Hi everyone,

I want to reduce the sensitivity of the microphone of either the mobile mic or and external USB-C mic.

Every time I connect the external mic, the sound signals are clipped (sensitivity is very high), and the recorded voice is distorted. Is there a method, code, or a library to change that?

What type of external mic? Does it sound bad with other external mics? Have you tried the bad sounding one on a different device to rule out as the problem?
