Can I get some help with a problem after updating software?

problem after updating software

I upgraded the latest software to my samsung galaxy and the earphone icon appeared even though i never use earphones. When I make or receive calls i have no sound unless I put it on speaker. Have turned on/off, removed battery, and just reset to factory settings and its still the same. Phone is not damaged and have had no problems with it until now. please help as phone is useless to me now.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Was it an official update pushed over-the-air by your carrier, or did you manually install an update you downloaded from the web?
