Why does my phone keep adding home screens?

why does my phone keep adding "home screens"?

My phone has the option to have up to 5 customizable pages for the home screens. I currently only use/want 2. Lately, I've noticed that my phone will add those three extra pages by itself and change my default home page to the middle one. I've tried restarting, getting rid of old apps that I didn't use, updating current apps, etc. It still seems to happen at least five times per day. I'll delete the extra pages and next thing I know, they are back. Anyone else have this problem or a solution? Thanks

I am currently having the same problem...ZTC Majesty Android 4.1.2...(straight talk will not allow system updates) ..I have narrowed it down to any time I move an icon (long press and drag) thanks in advance!!

Welcome to Android Central! Are you certain your launcher allows you to have fewer than 5 homescreens? Some might not let you do that.
