Facebook contacts = no texting?

After the FB app downloaded all my contacts to my phone, I cant text a few people because now there is a + in front of the number..(i think). does anyone know how to fix this without erasing all the contacts and get rid of FB?
Thank from a newb just learning the phone (DROID X), for 2 weeks now.

Thanks for all the input...haha....but I got it figured out. Kinda of disappointed about the response of my first question though, guess it wasn't technical enough for this forum?
