Getting "no applications to perform this action" when there IS an application to do so.

Hi Folks,

Long-time lurker, first-time poster!

I just got a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (model SM-T850 with Android version 6.0.1) to supplant my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and have been syncing up configurations, especially for navigation. In particular, I use MAPS.ME (MapsWithMe) to run KML (Keyhole Markup Language) files for points of interest, tracks, etc.

When I'm using "My Files" on my S4 Mini and press on a KML file, it automatically opens MAPS.ME (and I don't ever recall having to manually associate it). When I'm using "My Files" on my Tab A and press on a KML file, it gives me the "no applications to perform this action" response and gives no options for any apps to choose from. Using "Root Explorer" on on my Tab A brings up the option to use MAPS.ME and it opens the file fine, but does not create a permanent association.

I do not see any way to create the association when I go to Settings --> Applications --> MAPS.ME. The "Set as default" option doesn't appear to be of any help ("clear defaults" does nothing as there are no defaults).

How can I create a permanent association so KMLs will open with MAPS.ME?

Thanks in advance,
Shawn
