Hey guys, have done a bit of troubleshooting and time spent with various tech supports with no luck - hoping someone can help.

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S7 with latest update 8.0.0 (headset = Jabra Elite 45e)

Issue: Cannot use Bluetooth headset microphone with most apps (Whatsapp, Voice Recorder). Audio output works perfectly fine but the apps default to the phones microphone as input.

Worth noting: The Bluetooth headset microphone WORKS with voice calls on the phone AND using a Bluetooth Voice Recorder app...

Tried:
  • Phone reboot/shut down (did not work)
  • Cleared BT cache (did not work)
  • Tried BT headset on other devices (they worked)
  • Bought a different model/brand of BT headset (did not work)
  • Reset phone settings to factory (did not work)
  • Factory Reset Phone(did not work)

Hoping someone has some ideas and solutions! :'(

Also Hey,

Sorry can't help, because I have the same problem.

I have a Huawei Y7 (i am kind of a stingy guy) , a Philips bluetooth headset and a Jabra speak 510. MIC and audio work on everything, phone, skype, teamviewer, webex, audio, recorder, I mean everything... but WhatsApp.

I delete, cleaned, reinstalled, unpaired with no success. My feeling is a clash of devices but I can't get it to work.

So I also need help too...

Ihave the same problem with my Samsung Note 8 with a Plantronics and a Jabra headset. Never seen a fix. Someone should write an app!

Someone should send feedback in Settings. That's the way general Android bugs get fixed.

It's probably a mono Bluetooth device. Try using the Mono Mono app:

Note that it will probably degrade the audio quality.

Thank you very much, this fixed it. I just got a pair of headsets that mounds on the frame of my glasses for calls to always have it ready and also not have my ears covered, it would have been completely pointless if the mic couldn't work as the sound quality isn't that great and I have better options for listening to music. Surprising nobody upvoted this yet. BTW I'm on Android 10 if it matters.
