Well, that depends on what you want to play. People usually prefer Google Play Music since you can stream your subscription songs and you can upload your local library to be streamed anywhere (without having to save the files to a device), but if you're playing just local files, the included music player should suffice.

For your car, if it has a BT connection, just switch it to the right input and it should work on its own (play music in your phone, listen in your car, done). No additional apps needed.
